Sweet and Creamy Breakfast

I have tried lots of different protein oatmeal recipes over the years and most of the time, something just was not right. When the taste and consistency were good, then it was not satiating. When it was satiating, then the taste was off or the consistency was not great.

So these were the things I definitely wanted to get right when making my own version.

Apple Cinnamon Protein Oatmeal (close up)

The base of this oatmeal is made with water and egg whites, to make it creamy and even higher in protein. You can cook it either on the stove or in the microwave.

First, we will cook it until it is thick and creamy, and then we will add some protein powder and cinnamon. As I have said in my last recipe (protein semolina pudding), the protein powder you use is crucial, because it is the main source of flavor.

To make it taste even better, I will add some sugar free maple syrup at the end! You can use walden farms or whatever brand you have.

Description:

Creamy and thick protein oatmeal with apple and cinnamon!

Ingredients:

65g
oats
300ml
water
100g
liquid egg whites
5-10g
sweetener (adjust based on your liking)
30g
vanilla protein powder
1 pinch
cinnamon
1
apple (about 160g)
20g
sugar free maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. Preparation

Put the oats into a bowl (that is safe to put into the microwave) or a pot. Add water, eggwhites and sweetener and mix well.

  2. Cook until thick

Microwave: Cook for about 30s - 60s and then stir. Repeat this until it is thick but with a little bit of liquid left (so it does not get too dry when mixing in the protein powder). After that you can mix in the protein powder and cinnamon. Note: When you put it in the first time you can cook it a little bit longer (about 1 - 2min). Just make sure that after the first time you only cook it 30s at a time (to not overcook it!).

Pot: Cook on medium high heat while continously stirring until desired thickness is achieved! After it starts to thicken up, you can start adding in the protein powder and cinnamon.

  3. Top with apples and syrup

Cut your apple in small chunks and mix them in, then add you sugar free syrup on top and enjoy!
